Birnberg & Associates was established in 1984 by Cory A. Birnberg. One of the firm's first cases involved a multi-million disaster - a ship explosion where the entire deck of the ship was blown off. Since that time, the firm has specialized in all maritime matters from Jones Act personal injury, Longshore cases, cargo claims and representation of injured people, to business litigation and trial work, representing businesses, multi-national firms, and individuals. Our unique understanding of the complexities of maritime law, as well as the technical aspects of the maritime industry itself, enables us to effectively represent our maritime clients in both plaintiff and defense cases.

Birnberg & Associates' practice goes beyond maritime cases, and includes general civil, personal injury, insurance defense, and commercial, among other practice areas. Unlike most law firms, we have extensive experience practicing in a variety of jurisdictions, from Alaska State Court to Federal Courts in Texas, although most of our cases are in Northern California.
