Birnberg & Associates was actually formed because of
Cory Birnberg’s love of the sea. While only 8 years old, Cory Birnberg raced a “sabot”
a small 8’ sailboat to a national championship. What followed was a long
history of sailboat racing around the world, Transpac (Los Angeles to Hawaii),
buoy races and growing up in a sailboat racing family. Cory’s father moved to
Marina Del Rey, and instead of buying a house and becoming equity rich, rented
an apartment right over their sailboat. Cory designed sails and was one of the
first to design the loose footed mainsail. Anyway…….. After a long career of
racing, Cory wanted to practice maritime law. The practice quickly grew to representing
Fishing companies on the Bering Sea, ship collision, cargo claims in Dubai and
in Italy to personal injury, Jones Act and longshore claims.
Even
though the practice focused on maritime law, Cory tried medical malpractice
cases, sue car manufactures for design defects in wrongful death cases, and brought
and won discrimination cases. How did the law firm get named “Birnberg &
Associates”. At its very beginning in 1984 it was Law Offices of Cory Birnberg.
Cory quickly found that two heads are better than one, and as the practice grew,
Cory found he was in cases all over the United States. Attorneys are hired as well as experts and
staff based upon the specific type of case to bring to the table the best and
strongest knowledge base for the specific case.
If you asked us to try your family law case, we hire a family law
expert.
Birnberg
& Associates employs two attorneys, a paralegal, dedicated only to
longshore and defense based act cases, a law clerk who works only on third
party cases, a paralegal/receptionist and file clerk. As cases permit B & A

cases.
Cory Birnberg

Law (only one in Northern California) and is a certified Admiralty Specialist.
